Privacy Policy for MeshTalk

Last Updated: June 2026

Welcome to MeshTalk. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our location-based, real-time chat and WebRTC calling application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with the MeshTalk experience, we collect the following types of information:

  • Provided Information: Details you enter to join a session, such as a display name, age, and gender.

  • Location Data:We determine your approximate geographic location (City, Country) to match you with "Nearby" users.

  • Technical & Network Data: We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device information, and session timestamps.

  • Communication Data: Text messages sent in the Global Lounge or Direct Messages are processed through our databases. WebRTC Audio and Video calls are established peer-to-peer, meaning the media streams flow directly between users and are not recorded or stored by our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data primarily to operate the MeshTalk platform, connect you with other users, and display accurate presence indicators. Crucially, we use your Technical and Network Data for Safety and Moderation:

  • Abuse Prevention: We actively log and store IP addresses and device identifiers. This data is strictly utilized to enforce our community guidelines, execute permanent or temporary user bans, and prevent blocked individuals from re-accessing the platform.

  • Legal Compliance and Emergencies: We prioritize the safety of our community. We reserve the absolute right to share your IP address, location data, connection logs, and available chat history with law enforcement agencies or legal authorities if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, investigate illegal activities, or protect physical safety.

3. Data Storage and Retention

We retain your session data and chat history only for as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by law. However, IP addresses and identifiers associated with banned or flagged accounts may be retained indefinitely to enforce platform security.

4. Third-Party Services

MeshTalk utilizes third-party infrastructure (such as Firebase and external WebRTC STUN/TURN servers) to facilitate real-time database syncing and peer-to-peer connections. These services are bound by their own strict privacy policies and data security standards.
